Lewis Nez, born 1900 of the Todichitnii (Bitter Water) clan.
He married twice, first to Fannie and second to Bessie
Betoney. He had ten children. He was employed by the Cedar
Ridge Trading Post. He was responsible for hauling supplies,
U.S. Postal mail and money for the local merchants by
wagon between Flagstaff, Arizona and Kanab, Utah.

His life ended tragically on June 7, 1928 when he and two
other men were crossing the Colorado River on the ferry
with a Ford Modal T on board. The accident was the worst
and it was the last trip across the river by the ferry. Lewis
Nez's body was never recovered.
